Hello everyone,
As you can see I love to 'tinker' with laptops, yip not uncommon for me to pull part things and see how and what it works !!! see below for some crazy setups !!!
HARDWARE = Upgrade factory laptop (s10 standard 4231 with 3 cell BAT with XP home x32)
1st upgrade = Xp home to Windows vista home premium x32
= Memory added to make to 2 x 1GB
= Spare older , PATA hard drive ( with several partitions to do images 'copies')
i) copy/image factory HD to spare hard drive ( can use old 40gb) nothing special , I used Acronis free version works nicely for 30days)
OS UPGRADES and VARIOUS CHANGES
A)XP home to VISTA x32
B)Vista to Windows RTM
C)RTM to Windows 7 Ultimate
D)Fresh install LINUX ( IBM /REDHAT workstation series
E) Fresh install OSX (custom items various codes and changes)
Results::
Items that didn’t work – due to lack of drivers and or OS support
A)Windows Vista x32 , most things installed std from Dvd , and rest worked with XP drivers
B)RTM was a breeze to install and worked as above
C)Windows 7 Ultimate – most things installed std and rest had drivers from Lenovo now
D) Red Hat / IBM Linux , don’t give you many options , but basic form it works nicely
E)OSX = my custom things, still playing around with it in ANTICIPATION OF their new TOUCHSCREEN TABLET!!!
