Lenovo U1
Any news on the Lenovo U1? I did try a search here and got nothing.
Re: Lenovo U1
Nothing that I've seen yet. I've just been searching Youtube for demos of it.
Concerns:
1. Gestures aren't smooth. Finger swipes often take several tries to perform an action.
2. Can you access all of the 'widgets' that are available in 'slate mode' when docked in Windows?
3. Exactly how tied to Windows is this? Can I swap on a Linux distro instead?
4. Would it kill the PC industry to give demos of products that fully work? - even if this means removing some features that aren't stable for the time being? Things that don't work or don't work well detract from the excitement of the product. Make these features available later when they're ready.
5. I keep hearing 3g, 3g, 3g and in some cases, "Cingular/AT&T 3g." Contract?
6. From what I can tell, it has two separate storage solutions. HD/SSD in the keyboard and 16gb flash in the slate. This seems like a problem unless I can access the Windows HD wirelessly. That'd be pretty cool.
7. I've heard prices of $1000 - Egads! Also have heard "We don't know what price yet." $1k is WAY too much for me. We'll see how this pans out.
Seems like it has some issues to be ironed out yet. I'm very anxious to get my hands on some sort of slate, tablet, or slablet of some kind.

Re: Lenovo U1
Well, I guess we'll see in a couple of months. That is if June is the release time frame.

Re: Lenovo U1
If the Silverlight laptop will not be out until July, how can the U1 be on track? What were they planning; late summer, like Aug 31?
