X220 palm rest replacement

Hi all,
I got a replacement palm rest for my X220 off eBay: it's not original and bare bones, no touch pad.
Transplanting the original touch pad into the new palm rest seems easy enough; it's just the four screws, right?

The new palm rest is also missing the aluminum foil pieces (left & right) and I see the water drainage duct is open, but should be easy to close up -- the original is just some plastic sheet covering that's been stuck on there and is coming loose anyway, so I'll figure something out.

But what's up with the aluminum foil? heat shields?
They're stuck onto the original palm rest, guess they'll be difficult to remove intact and stick on the new one... anyone done this before?
Some suitable replacement tape that I can use instead?

If I were to venture a guess, it's RF shielding, especially for the WiFi and WWAN cards on the right side.

You could put aluminum foil tape instead, but I don't know how well it would adhere to the plastic surface after many months or years. Just to be safe, I'd put Kapton tape (I read somewhere that the original 3M brand sticks better compared to the cheap ones) over the aluminum tape.

I see some 3M aluminium tapes here on Amazon, but no Kapton (only other brands).
Think I'll try the former
