Earlier Lenovo-brand X-series wireless card FRUs in X220?

Hey, I just purchased my x220i and screwed up my wireless card choice (thinkpad generic). It seems that the Intel 6300 FRU is 60Y3233, whileas there are Lenovo-branded, non-ES cards on ebay with different FRUs, some for the X201 or U-series.

The price difference is over 20 dollars. Is it possible to use other-line Lenovo wireless card FRUs in the x220? Or will it reject those? I really hate the idea of hacking the BIOS of a BRAND NEW machine due to this B.S.

Thanks for any help.

No answer to your question.. sorry

But make sure you have the 3x3 antenna lid (means no camera) before you get a 6300. Otherwise you might just as well get a 6205 and save the extra.

I have some experience here trying to replace the wifi card in my X200s.

There should be a core list of cards that are white-listed by the BIOS, for me it is basically anything up to the 5300. The trick is you have to get one that is specifically a Lenovo card and not a generic. My X200s rejected a generic 5300 card, but (hopefully) will be fine with the Lenovo one I ordered off ebay.
