If you hit the Service and Support Training site, there's videos showing how to do it. The mSATA drive is not there, but the WWAN card is and it's pretty much the same thing since they share the same slot. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate it about a three. I had a little bit of trouble with the WLAN antennas, but eventually got it.

sorry i should have been clearer. i meant the procedure to install windows. clean vs recovery, and the various steps to do so.

If I were you, I would just do a recovery with a USB thumb drive for the sake of convenience. The whole process of installation and updating for a mSata only took about a couple of hours and was relatively painless.

i don't have a large enough thumbdrive. i assume i can put the RR stuff onto a partitioned external hard drive and boot from there to install windows?

Yes, there are procedures on various forums on what to do. I believe you just need to set aside 15GB for the partition.
