X220 tn panel vs X120e tn panel

#1 Post by kidio007 » Thu Jan 12, 2012 3:29 pm

Hi!

I was just wondering if the X220 tn panel is better than the X120e tn panel one? I know the the X220 also have IPS, but I can only afford the tn. I also read about how the X120e screen is not that great, so was hoping the X220 one was better. if it is then I would easely choose the X220. Thanks!

I have had both machines at once and I'd say no, X220 LCDs are not necessarily better. Both are actually quite good. The X100e/X120e and Edge E120 models that I've seen with the 11.6" displays have all been very good. The X220 was also very good. All were extremely bright, too.

I suspect Lenovo uses more than one source for panels, as with most models, so there may be some luck of the draw involved, too.

That being said, the X220 is much faster. The new X130e, which may actually weigh more than the X220, when equipped with the Intel (as opposed to the AMD) CPU, may be a reasonable performance alternative to the X220.

The X120e performance is fine, especially with an SSD upgrade, but the X220 performance is great.

So far the edge 11 (amd) is the best alternative, more CPU power than the X120, way cooler than the X100, cheaper, lighter and smaller than the X2xx series.

The chiclet keyboard is great, way better than the classic one IMO, and the switchable function keys is a nice feature to have.

I missed just the thinklight in it.
