Can I Install A Mini PCIe SSD on My X200 Tablet?

#1 Post by epu » Sat Feb 25, 2012 12:01 pm

Is installing a Mini PCIe SSD possible if I remove my Turbo Memory? Will the Bios recognize this drive? I would like to do this so I can install this drive so I can have two hard drives installed so I can do audio on my laptop.

This does 260BM/220MB

Can I do this on my X200 Tablet or will I have to upgrade to the X220 Tablet?

That's not going to work; that's not actually a mini-PCIe SSD but a mSATA one (though it goes in the same slot; it uses a different way of signalling that the motherboard won't recognize).

Even if it was a proper mPCIe drive, such as the Super Talent CoreStore MV, you'd have to do some boot manager work (i.e. make sure a boot loader was on the hard drive to invoke whatever was on the SSD).

Just say no to the ThinkBook Pro.

Thanks so much for the response. I am going to start saving for the X220 Tablet!
