I have an Lenovo x200 with p8600 2.4 Core 2 Duo, 8GB DDR3 memory, 80GB mSATA SSD, AFFs/IPS screen. It really fast, but I want a Intel i7.
Mod:
I swapped out the motherboard with an x201 I7-620M 2.66GHz and 3.33GHz turbo max.
Wow the laptop is smoking fast. The x201 motherboard fitted perfectly in the x200 chassis. Those you want to know the AFFS screen also work on the X201. I have to update the UUID usin the Lenovo Maintain diskette. Just want to share my experiment and hope help other thinking about updating. Thanks

Thanks for the update on your excellent FrankenPad!
Now you've got me wondering about doing something similar with my X200s...

Definitely not going to giving the resolution. I'll be putting in a X201s motherboard when I do the upgrade.

Can you put a WXGA+ X200s screen in a regular X200 chassis? or is this a no-go? I already have the LED backlit screen, so that shouldn't be a problem.

The complete lid assembly will fit and work.
Keep in mind though the lids are different.
