Just curious, I got a thinkpad x201, just not quite happy with the quality of the screen. If possible, I would love to change the TN screen to IPS.
So do you guy have IPS screen or better quality of screen installed, or just accept this little imperfection of the machine?

Probably a screen from a X200/X201 tablet can be used.

You can use the Hydis HV121WX4, but since the X201 uses a LED LCD while the HV121WX4 is a CFFL LCD, you'll need to swap the LCD cable for one from the X200 that used a CFFL LCD. You'll also need to swap the X201 LED sub card for the inverter from the CFFL X200. The part numbers are available in the HMM.
There's three version of the HV121WX4 LCD. 100 and 110 are glossy while the 120 version is matte. The 110 is the least expensive and easiest to find, but as the good doctor noted, these are tablet screens. Many of them will still have the touch surface and digitizer on them. You'll need to remove the touch surface to ensure that it'll fit. The are also some with the touch surface and digitizer already removed available, though they tend to be a bit more expensive. Good luck on the project. The X201 with the IPS is a fantastic little ultraportable. I had a X200 with the screen mod. The screen looked great.

eric_lhy, if you don't mind 1366x768, an easier solution would be to sell this X201 and buy an X220 with an IPS screen.

It seems not much choice for me, as I don't want to perform a big 'operation'....., it is better to keep it and search for a IPS X220 later.
