PC-12600 only running at 800MHz on X201 tablet

Hi

Just upgraded my ram from the standard 2GB PC-10666 that came with my pad to 2x4GB PC-12600. Everything is working just fine, but according to cpu-z they are only running at 800MHz... Can i get higher speeds from them?

Best regards, Morten

welcome to the forum!

depending on your processor (which i suspect is ULV) 800MHz is the highest memory clock your particular model can handle.   standard processors in the X201 series maxed out at 1066MHz memory.

search for your CPU on ark.intel.com and it will tell you the maximum memory clock.

Thank you

Okay, so no speed bumb-up. Didn't think anything were running at 800MHz these days, but of course although I just got the tablet recently, the model is some years old already...

Anyway to get better timings?

Regards
Morten

there's no easy or cost-effective way to increase memory speed in that system.   the best processor in the X201/X201T tops out at a 1066Mhz memory clock.   there's no significant difference between 800MHz and 1066Mhz unless you're literally running a full day worth of mathematical calculations and want to save 30 minutes off of your calculation times.

memory speed is about the least important spec for the majority of users.   if "speed" is what you want then you need an SSD.   honestly, you'll never notice a change in memory in your particular system so i wouldn't worry about it.
