Blink of Death on X201

#1 Post by moggg » Fri Apr 27, 2012 10:24 am

I woke up today to find my X201 dead. It was running fine last night but it seems it shutdown by itself at some point. I searched a bit and read about the blink of death on older Thinkpads, but no mentions of it happening to newer Thinkpads like the X201.

I bought the laptop about a month ago on Ebay, it was new but not in original packaging. I have only used it for about a week.

Here are some things I tried:

Battery out, plugged in - Power LED is on. Pressing power button makes it blink and turn off.

Battery in, not plugged - Pressing power button makes it blink, then nothing,.

Battery in, plugged in - Power and battery LEDs are green. Pressing power button gives blink of death again.

I tried using two other Lenovo batteries, one OEM and one non-OEM. Also tried switching the power adapter. Same behavior, nothing changes.

Anything else I can try?
