X220 broken screen, need second opinion

Hello I just joined this forum, this will be my first post.
Title pretty much says it. My computer has been having an issue with the screen where the picture is off/discolored on the left side of the screen along a well defined vertical line, see the image below. Sometimes the issue just goes away, sometimes its really bad and sometimes its mild. There isn't much consistency as far timing goes but what is consistent is the fact that this takes place in the same spot every time. The screen is not actually cracked, I can't understand why this came about. Computer runs fine other than this and the touchscreen still works, even when the colors on the display change in this strange fashion. What do you guys think could be the cause? Any advice would be appreciated. TIA.

Have you tried connecting it to external monitor? In my opinion it looks more like a graphic chip problem...

your laptop's display cable appears to be damaged, or seems to have come undone from it's connector. The display itself also seems to have a bright spot in the right hand side, which I consider a defect(Lenovo may beg to differ)
Also entirely possible that it is a Software / GPU problem, but those bright spots bother me, and those are clearly not software related.
Hardware servicing is required, so you better call Lenovo and get it fixed before your warranty runs out. Most likely you will be getting a new screen assembly.

Oh, sorry I forgot to mention that. It was tested and works perfectly on an external monitor.
Does anyone know roughly how much this could cost me if they don't honor the warranty? I've heard before that lenovo repair costs can be almost as much as that of a new computer.

I've been looking at replacement screens to turn my x220t outdoor display to a multitouch ones and I've been finding lots of LCD only parts for ~$100-150, so if its a nontablet, it would seem easy enough to replace yourself.

have you tried to see if the problem is in the Inverter card ?
(Invrtor card is located below the LCD screen and convert data to color)
you have two ways to check it
1. if you have another laptop screen ... (yha right... )
2. buy the Inverter (8-12 $ in Ebay) and replace it, also realy easy to do and maybe save you 70$

It certainly isn't an inverter, which simply converts DC current to AC current, and the X220 doesn't even have one. It has an LED backlight , which runs off DC anyway. (The AC out of an inverter drives a CCFL backlight.) The spots on the right look like pressure spots, caused by pressing against the glass with a finger or closing the lid on something. The left side looks like the contact tape for the column drivers has delaminated, although it is hard to be sure from the picture. If I were looking for warranty service, I would ask about the left side.

I'm not really concerned about the part on the right, its hardly noticeable but the part on the left makes programs unusable in full screen. I'll be contacting lenovo, I'll see what their techs say. Thanks for the input everyone.
