Hello,
I purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 laptop (model number: 4291-5L8) with Microsoft Windows 7 Professional preinstalled. My problem is that I can’t write to any USB stick, external HDD, SD card, DVD writer, I can only open all of them in read-only mode. I have already spent long hours searching in Google and different forums for a solution but nothing helped me solve the problem (granting all permissions for everybody, changing ownership, setting StorageDevicePolicies in Registry, etc.). I think it’s related to a pre-installed security software because if I start Windows in safe mode than I can write to all of the USB devices but I can't find out one. Could anybody help me make my USB drives writable?
Thank you in advance.

Re: All USB devices appear as read-only
Hello, and welcome to the forum! I don't think this is a ThinkPad issue at all, but looks like a Win7 issue. Have you install the following hotfix for USB devices? Most USB issues can be fixed by it. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972
