Ok to just transplant Hard Disk from X121e to X220?

Hi,
Might seem like a silly question but...

I have the opportunity to upgrade my i3 X121e to a i5 X220 for a small cash outlay.

But I really don't have the time to re-install all my apps etc.

My X121e has a self installed SSD drive and I still have the original HDD that it came with stored away.

Can anyone comment on how successful a transplant of the SSD drive from the X121e to the X220 would be with regards drivers etc and general Windows 7 stabilty?

I would then just plug the original X121e HDD back in before I sell it on.

Thanks!

First issue would be your SSD. The X220 takes a 7mm SATA drive. If your SSD isn't 7mm, it would have to be altered, if possible, to fit in the X220.

Second issue would probably be drivers, though I have no experience with what you're attempting.

The X121e also takes 7mm so that's OK.

Anybody have any experience of what I am trying to do?

Thanks

It will probably boot up and then look for all the changed drivers and then work fine.

I prefer a clean install everytime, but unlike XP wth Vista/7 installs you can swap drives even when the chipset is different.

Thanks for that..
Will probably do a clean build sometime in the future - just not got the time right now.
Cheers!
