Permanently remove X200s fingerprint reader

#1 Post by viewofdelft » Thu Aug 16, 2012 11:42 am

I love my X200s but the fingerprint reader does nothing but get in my way.

Is it possible not only to disable it (which has been discussed elsewhere) but to permanently remove it as well as switch out the current palmrest with one that doesn't have the fingerprint reader cutout?

I'd like a minimalist design but not at the expense of a broken laptop. Is this possible?

(I'm using Ubuntu, in case it matters.)

Yes, just order a X200s palm rest w/o fingerprint reader on it.

Look for the part number here and call Lenovo to see if you can get one from them (or check eBay)

edit: there are plenty of them on eBay
