I cannot seem to find anyplace that has the 500gig hard drive in stock
(HGST Travelstar 2.5-Inch 500GB 7200RPM SATA III 32MB Cache SATA 6Gbps - HTS725050A7E630)
I have one on backorder from Amazon, but who knows when that's going to be fulfilled.
Anybody know of an online retailer that has this in stock?

Are you willing to order from a vendor through the Amazon portal?

Actually, I just went back over to Amazon and checked and Amazon has them in stock again now... so I just placed another order with them even though it was a few dollars more.
I had cancelled my back ordered drive and ordered from another company, but they cancelled the order saying they could not fullfil it, so apparently during that time Amazon got more in.

Yeah, I should have figured that if anybody was going to get more in it would be Amazon seeing they are such a big seller of all sorts of things. I'm imagine most any company that sells stuff wants their products on Amazon anymore.
Anyway, sorry to have taken up posting space since I obviously jumped the gun here and should have checked Amazon again for continuing my hunt for the drive.
I got Lenovo to send me the OE install discs (4 discs, 2 for Windows, 2 for Lenovo Software products) and I bought a Lenovo external CD-Rom drive (with Lightscribe, CD-R, DVD-R)... so I'm going to keep the OE drive as a backup and see if I can install Windows only by just using the first install disc. If it says install second one to continue installing Windows, I guess I'll have to.
I'm hoping to not install the Lenovo bloatware. Since I wanted the larger hard drive anyway, I figured when installing it, that would be a good opportunity to see if I can do a clean install.
Anyway, if it doesn't work and the Lenovo bloatware is still there, then I suppose I'll do what everyone else does... uninstall everything I don't want manually since I'd rather not go buy a retail version of Windows since I already paid for it once. Ya'll wish me luck!

It'll ask for the additional disks.
Have fun!

So, Windows will not finish installing without putting in these additional discs
If that's true is buy a retail version the only way?

On recent recovery disk installs I've done, the routine creates the recovery partition on the bare drive and then copies everything over to that from all of the disks requested in sequence. After that, the system reboots and the actual windows install proceeds from the hidden partition (sorry if you already know this).
If you were to feed the process just the first disk, I'd think the install scripts would just terminate and you'd be left with nothing useful. You could always try it though. If it fails completely, just be ready to boot a cd/DVD that has a partition tool so that you can blow away anything left behind before starting over.
Seems to me that if you want a truly vanilla, clean windows install, that you'll need a retail disk. Upgrade/academic (if you qualify)/full... all will work.

Yes, this was how I was thinking of starting off once the new drive is installed, and I can also start all over if need be this way.
I'm assuming when I have my external CD-Rom drive plugged in, I can set the boot order to look at the external drive first as to make it start the Windows install, or start the bloatware fun!
OK, so if this doesn't work... what are the chances that a program such as Revo Uninstaller or Advanced Uninstaller PRO can successfully take out the programs I don't want on there?

OK, I guess that will be my back up plan since I'm going to have to make use of this copy of Windows.
I wouldn't want to be wasteful in buying a retail version if I can spend some time cleaning up this install, and then capturing the cleaned up version with Acronis.
