Battery loose in x220

#1 Post by revcp » Sat Sep 08, 2012 5:30 am

When working with my newly purchased x220, especially on a surface like a table, the battery loses connection when I move it, shutting the computer down. Does anyone else have this issue?

Well, embarrassing user error. Like many I eschew reading directions. Coupled with that, this is also my fourth Thinkpad, so I know my way around these things. I just discovered that there are two battery locks on the bottom of the chassis, not one as in my former TPs. I engaged the other lock and all is well. Sheesh.

I personally don't need to lock the second fasterner on my X220, the battery remains relatively firmly attached to the computer.

Yes, this same thing happened to my x200s. I took out the battery and examined area and found that a small part broke off the casing that is supposed to hold the battery securely.

As you say, when I slide the computer on my desk or on the airplane, the battery will slightly move and the computer will shutoff.

I contacted Lenovo about the problem but it was outside the 1yr warranty so there was nothing they would do.

A shame, I know...
