Has anyone bought a Bluray burner?

#1 Post by hyde » Sun Sep 09, 2012 11:14 pm

With all the 60fps videos I have, I want to burn them onto BD and store them as either video or data. While storing them as DATA will not be an issue, I want to make cheap copies available so I can mail them or give them to friends. 8GB USB won't be able to keep much in it, as cheapest options ($5).
BD-R seems to cost less than $1 each, and can keep 25GB.

AVCHD is about 25000kbps = around 3.15MB/Sec. Looks like, around 132minutes uncompressed AVCHD should fit in a BD.
I am not sure if we can author videos the same way we could for DVD or if we can drag and drop videos to bluray drive...

I bought an external DVD Burner that works with a single USB connection and it works flawlessly with my laptop, so I am hoping I can get a BD-Burner and burn all these HD videos that I have from my camera [HX30V]. The camera states the 60fps videos are not compatible with DVD.

I have a Panasonic UJ-240 and put in an external case. I haven't used it to burn anything from my notebook, but have from my desktop, which worked fine.

Thanks. When you burn, do you burn video for playback in BD player or just data?
