X220 Broken/Faulty Screen not covered by Warranty

My 11 month old X220 screen developed a half inch 'ink blot' where it looks like the LCD is leaking with some cracks radiating around it where light is leaking through. It wasn't dropped and the screen isn't cracked or scratched. I sent it back to Lenovo and predictably they said it wasn't covered and wanted $750 to replace it.

Since there is no way i would pay Lenovo that kind of money for a defect on their part I'm looking into replacing the screen myself. A quick search revealed www.laptopscreen.com. Are these screens equivalent to the OEM parts from Lenovo? Are there any other vendors who provide a better screen/service that I should look into?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I believe that the seller in question does not provide genuine Lenovo replacements.

I'd suggest posting a WTB (want to buy) ad in the forum's Marketplace and see where that gets you.

Good luck.

X220 fits LP125WH2(SL)(B1) (and a few other non IPS panels)
What exactly do you mean by "genuine" Lenovo?
Lenovo doesn't make screens, in case of the LP125WH2(SL)(B1) LG made it.

I recommend you get the LP125WH2(SL)(B1)
just like this customer did:

No kidding. Thanks for sharing that piece of proprietary information with us mere mortals...

A Lenovo-approved panel with a proper FRU number. This ensures that it is tested to meet the requested specs, and not just "compatible" like 98% offerings on the web are...

And I recommend looking at the HMM, pulling appropriate FRU numbers and familiarizing oneself with all the options at hand:
