Keyboard concern

#1 Post by ThinkGreen » Wed Oct 31, 2012 12:14 pm

Hi, does anyone experience a different feel from some keyboard keys ?

In my case the left and down keys sounds a little "creaking" and the space bar hasn't the same feel of other keys.

What machine are you using?

And generally speaking Lenovo has used 3 different keyboard manufacturers, each of which has a slightly different feel. It depends how much use your keyboard has seen too.
Current: X1 Carbon Gen 3 - 20BT-S1LV00 - i5-5300U - 8GB DDR3L - WQHD Touch - 256GB SSD

I'm talking about lenovo x220.
I've noticed a different feel on some keys, particularly those positioned on the right bottom side of the keyboard.
And in the case of the arrow keys I've a noisier creaking sensation.
The bar space has a different response and noise too, but it seems to be non problematic.
My concern is understating if a keyboard disassemble and "refixing" coul be eventually fix this problem.

Thanks.
Could be this the problem ?

I was thinking about an issue of the keyboard base and not the single keys.

Furthermore the arrow keys seem to be the more tedious to remove.

Well, it is usualy easier to fix. Reseating the keyboard might help or putting a small piece of plastic tape under the keyboard plate. Just a little warning, when putting the keyboard back better not to push hard to the location of three trackpoint buttons because you might break it. The plastic plate with the trackpoint buttons does not seem to be joined well to the metal plate, see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Th ... m-p/749599
