Dead microphone X200

#1 Post by Sandstorm83 » Mon Nov 05, 2012 5:55 am

I noticed the other day that the microphone no longer works. It doesn't register at all when I try to use Skype or even sound recorder. At first I thought it was a driver issue with Windows 8 but I swapped my drive with a factory-restored image of Windows 7 and the same problem occurs.

I assume its a hardware issue and when I check the HMM I cannot find any documentation regarding what might be at fault. If I remember correctly, the microphone cable is on the same cable as the LCD connector right? I replaced that cable once already due to a faulty Thinklight and I believe it may have to be replaced again. Is there anything else I can check before replacing it again?

I opened up my laptop and it seems like the microphone sensor is a chip located on the inverter card. I reseated the cable to the inverter but that did not fix the problem.

Is there any way to test whether the cable or the inverter is defective?

Any help would be appreciated.
