X200 pen problem?

#1 Post by YetiX200 » Wed Nov 21, 2012 12:07 pm

HI i have an x200 tablet, windows 7,windows 8 consumer preview.
Pen input was working fine then went to use it today and its not registering at all when hovering over the screen ,however when i use the eraser it works.
Is this likely to be the pen itself. Also when i opened the laptop lid for the first time today it made a kind of snapping sound from the hinge area but on closer inspection i cannot see any damage and the hinge functions as before. I was wondering if the pen problem might be something to do with the cables running through the hinge.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thankyou.

Hi! Is your X200 Tablet pen and touch, or just wacom penabled? Mines is wacom penabled and windows 7 was installing the pen and touch driver, it either didn't work and when it did, it gave me BSOD. I uninstalled the pen and touch driver, and installed the wacom driver (510-4) and my pen works again! If your X200 is Penabled this might help you.

Thankyou it did work out of the box with both windows 7 and 8 . I have bought a new pen and it works again so it was just the pen.

My stylus stops working suddenly today. I suspect the pen is going to be dead. I wonder if there is anyone who knows how to disensembly the pen and repair it? Thanks.

PS: While waiting for your response, I restarted my computer, and the pen become active again. Any idea?

I would recommend downloading an Ubuntu live image to a USB flash drive and see if your pen works. Ubuntu natively supports Wacom and if it works there, then you know it is a Windows-related issue and not a hardware problem.

Yes, it is Windows related. But don't know how to fix it. I looked at another lenovo forum, a similar thread was posted two years ago, but no one responded to give a solution so far. BTW, I have the Wacom 510-4 driver already.
