Spilled Beer on X220 Tablet Keyboard

#1 Post by sno89 » Sat Nov 24, 2012 1:04 pm

So about a half a week ago I spilled a whole beer on my laptop while it was running. I didn't do the smart thing and immediately disassemble/clean. I am in the process of picking away at that right now.

Battery light appears to be working with either battery or plug for power. Fan does not spin up. Unresponsive to power button.

So, what could be wrong? Motherboard? Keyboard? If the keyboard is busted, I can't use the power button, right?

Any help would be appreciated. Looking for a self fix but I have no idea where to start in narrowing down what the damage could be. Hopefully if I clean all the residue off it will work?!

Thanks guys.

Edit: When I plug it in (no battery in) the battery light blinks green three times. When I hit the power button the light blinks orange.

Edit: With just the battery in, hitting the power button makes the battery light go green, but it cuts out for like a tenth of a second roughly once every 10 seconds.

Welcome to the forum!

You're most likely going to be purchasing a replacement laptop. Too much time has gone by, and my hunch is that the motherboard is toast.

Good luck.
