When is it clear to install Windows 8 for GOBI 3k user

New member here, I have recently acquired the X220i and installed the Gobi 3000 as WWAN option purchased via Lenovo website. It took a bit of work to get it working and registered w Windows 7 ultimate, so I don't want to upgrade to Windows 8 until I know that all the drivers, AC etc are updated and available. Does anyone know whether this is yet possible? Thanks in advance for your help.

Because 8 is very similar to 7 (and back with vista as well), the drivers that work with 7 might just work with 8, or 8 might have native drivers that would make the card operatable.

Only one way to find out really would be to do an install. Just pop in a spare sata dirive and run the install. Can't take more then a half hour

Win 8 is different from Win 7 in numerous ways. Right now WWAN card driver support is one of the areas that is not fully resolved for Win 8, so unless you are feeling particularly adventurous, I'd recommend staying with Win 7 until there is clear evidence that that there are released production drivers available in Win 8 versions for your WWAN card

Also, Lenovo made a deliberate decision not to support Access Connections, Power Manager and some other ThinkPad utilities under Win 8, so you might want to have a close look at what that means for your usage as well.
