win 8 (preferred) bios loader for existing WL BIOS?
It appears WL'ed bios dev seems to have come to at least a temporary halt
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... elist+bios
I've got the hots for an mc7700, (half for the included GPS+ full Linux support), but have no desire to pay Lenovos prices.
(plus I'd like to try some various other mini-PCIE toys w/o hassles)
I'm just looking for a 64-bit Win8 loader that can load an existing WL-removed bios to my X200T. (3.20)
It appears to load a BIOS patch over the (existing) 3.20, rather than a full-fledged loadble BIOS.
The old Phoenix utility included with the bios doesn't seem to like win 8 much, or perhaps it's not x64?
I've been running Linux since the pre- 1.0 days (on an Amiga back then, who needs distros?) but a well tested win8 loader would be groovy, as I have low desire to brick my new toy, or spend hours sorting out how to do it under Linux.
(I suppose worst case I can partclone everything off and reinstall Vista from CD, but that is a huge time suck I would wish on no one.)

Um, what exactly are you looking for?
Do you want to flash a modded BIOS image? Make a DOS boot disk, boot your computer from it and flash. No need to do it under Windows.
Or are you looking for a boot loader?

Re: win 8 (preferred) bios loader for existing WL BIOS?
Basically the most recent WL-removed BIOS I can find is 3.20, but it seems to apply a patch over the factory 3.20 BIOS, rather than being a std complete loadable BIOS.
It is meant to be loaded with Phoenix Winphlash, which won't play on Win8, and I didn't image off the POs edu liscence Win7 to use.
It LOOKS like the (generic?) MC7700 is supported by (very) recent drivers from Lenovo, perhaps the WL is not an issue for it, but I also want to try adding a CrystalHD and other junk in the 3 currently empty slots w/minimal>no whitelist related hassles.
(the whole "whitelist" concept irritates me, but I digress)

Presumably you're talking about the modded BIOS found here? http://forums.mydigitallife.info/thread ... ad/page420
That download contains both the original and modded BIOS, which make things much easier. Basically, you should make a DOS boot disk containing flashing tools. Put the original on there and flash. Then, put the modded BIOS on there and flash.

Re: win 8 (preferred) bios loader for existing WL BIOS?
As I don't have the original CD to boot from, and the USB solutions didn't work, I did a recovery and updated vista to do the deed.
(Have a much more useful 320G HDD where the DVD went, picked up a $20 DL USB DVD burner)
All good now, and I have a set of Vista images up to date I can reinstall in a few minutes if need be.
Boots win8pro to desktop/usable state (using Authentecs software+FP reader) in ~10 seconds.
