X200s broken battery latch replacement

#1 Post by Mr.Tritium » Sat Feb 23, 2013 8:54 am

Hi everybody,

I recently purchased an x200s on ebay. However I've just seen that the latch that maintains the battery from its left side is broken:

According to this topic the broken part belongs to 44C9556 and I'll have to remove the motherboard in order to replace it. So my questions are:
- How hard and risky is this operation? Pictures showing it actually done would really help.
- What is a cheapest/fastest way to get the 44C9556 kit in France?
- Is there a reliable alternative way to maintain the battery without replacing the damaged part?

Unless you do it youself it seems like an expensive repair. Looks like you will use it as a desktop replacement and it wont be moved around? If so why not just use duct tape?
