How to check i my x220 has 3G and GPS?

#1 Post by petko8680 » Mon Mar 04, 2013 6:23 am

Hi guys,
I know that some models come with 3G ready and a GPS, but don't know how to check if mine has those features or not. And also does GPS mean I can use it as navigation system or it's just to determine my exact position? cheers

Thanks. I installed it, but don't understand what it shows. BTW i found there is a slot for SIM card under battery, but wanted to ask- do i need a special SIM or can insert any mobile SIM card into it.

All configurations have the SIM slot but the 3G module is optional only. Press Fn+F5, it displays dialog that allows to enable/disable wireless devices. If there is a (usually third, among WiFi and Bluetooth) WWAN device then you have the module installed. You can use any SIM card as long as it has been activated. Some mobile providers have obscure activation procedures (a phone call made via the SIM card ) that can not be performed by the 3G module.
