x220 battery life: is it better core i5 or core i7 ?

Hello there!

I want to get a thinkpad x220 and i ran into a good offer. It features an intel core i7 2620m clocked at 2.6 Ghz.

My main worry is battery life: i've read that core i7 gets hotter than core i5. Should i wait and look for a core i5-based x220 ?

Also: This laptop has ben bought in the u.s, and it's being sold (2nd hand) in europe. Will it be covered by its original warranty, if still going ?

Thanks in advance,

More processing power equal more power consumption so yes the I7 will consume more power. How much more? That's debatable.

From my tests the performance difference is minimal (around 4 to 7% at max), but with the i7 X220 you get the USB 3.0, which is useful.

When on battery the processor clocks at 800MHz and 0.798V. Power consumption is the same, no matter if i3, i5 or i7. Even with maximum performance there is hardly any difference since they all have the same voltage.
