Strange Problme with x220 battery

Hi all,
i am having a strange issue with my x220 battery. have the power manager installed and what I recently noticed is that when battery drops below 1:00h( not sure how much it is in percent) it suddenly gives me a message that I am almost out of battery life. For instance- it shows that there are still 52mins(about 17-20%) before battery runs out and after 5-10mins it says only 7% left and the laptop goes to sleep mode which is the option selected in power manager when battery drops below 7%. will appreciate any help as i am really frustriated

Open Power Manager, go to Battery > Battery Maintenance > Battery gauge reset > Perform Reset.

Will that have any negative impact on the battery?
