X220 got soda spilt on and I tried improv cleaning, help!

#1 Post by minimi24 » Wed May 22, 2013 9:46 pm

I have a lenovo x220 but I got soda on it, after I poured isoprophyl alcohol onto the keyboard (with battery dettached). Next I blew it with a hair dryer for 15 mins and tried to start the computer, but I couldn't control the keyboard. Next I opened up the internals and blow dried it for another 15 mins. Now it only flashes with the power button and turns off. It's now in some rice in hopes of having whatever residual liqiuds dry out. Am I screwed?

Welcome to the forum!

Sorry for your trouble.

I suggest waiting at least 24 hours or even longer to allow for everything to dry completely.

I have heard of worse ThinkPad spills than what you are describing coming back to life.
