Removing touch panel from AFFS screen
Hi,
I want to upgrade the screen on my X200 and am thinking of installing an AFFS screen. I understand that there is a version of this screen without a touch panel and digitiser however I am loathe to spend the £120+ it will cost me on my old X200.
As a result I'm thing of purchasing this AFFS screen http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-O ... 4ac299789c
Can someone please explain to a complete newbie how I would go about removing the touch panel from such a screen?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There's a thread here about the swap. You should be able to find some pointers there:

Re: Removing touch panel from AFFS screen
Thanks, I've looked at a number of threads but I haven't found what I'm looking for, namely how do you actually remove the touch panel component. There's references to using a razor and it taking some time but that's all I've found.
What I'd like to know is the panel just glued onto the LCD frame or is the glue across the entire panel? Also, are all the Boehydis panels constructed the same, i.e. is there a chance of me buying a panel and finding that the manufacturing process has changed which makes removing the panel impossible.

Re: Removing touch panel from AFFS screen
I did the same mod around a year ago. I have the same panel and the touch glass is glued on the borders only (was at least so last year). I used a cutter to carefully remove the glass from the surface. You'll need only a steady hand and some patience
Unfortunately I did not make any videos or pictures at that time

Re: Removing touch panel from AFFS screen
I used a razor blade between the glass and LCD. It's not that difficult, more of a grunt job. Just make sure you don't damage the LCD or break the glass. Just so you know, the one you linked, the 110, is a glossy screen. If you prefer the matte version, it's the 120.

Thanks very much for your help, that's given me the confidence I need to tackle it!
I would prefer the matte version of the screen but can't find anyone that stocks it in the UK, importing it just adds too much to the final cost.

Re: Removing touch panel from AFFS screen
Fitted this last night, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The top glass screen was attached to the metal frame around the edges with a strip of black adhesive. I just used a razor blade and sliced through this - took about 10-20 mins.
Managed to break a plastic lug on the bezel when taking it off the laptop but that was all. Looks great, thanks for your help!
