Hello,
I've been fiddling with my X200s. I took the screen bezel off to epoxy part of the back lid together as it had broken, prior to doing this I'd taken the LCD out to prevent damage. Unfortunately now I've hooked the screen back in, I can barely see what's on it. Initially I thought I'd broken the CCFL tube, and since the screen is the AFFS model, I switched it out with the original which I had left over, and found that it made no difference. Next I thought I must have shorted something out on the inverter, or damaged it by handling it too much (static discharge), so I bought another one. Nope, no difference with either screen. Any ideas? I'm guessing it might be the LCD ribbon cable, but they're going for £25 on ebay, and I'm getting sick of upgrading this laptop. I'm not sure whether to throw the towel in and just get an x220 or x230.
I can connect over VNC and SSH, so pretty sure the motherboard is good. It really looks as if the backlight is not on at all on the screen as on the lowest setting the backlight is massively uneven, but now it's even gloomier, I really can't see much on the screen unless it's white, in which case I can just about make it out.
Any ideas on what might be the cause?

Re: X200s dark screen
Based on your description, in my opinion, the motherboard now has a bad fuse. I wouldn't know which fuse to look for though I a am fairly certain someone here would.

Re: X200s dark screen
Hi Brad,
Thanks for the response. After a bit more searching I came up with this thread:
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Ta ... d-p/384399
EDIT: I flipped the board over and couldn't find it... perhaps because it is on fact on the top side! It's to the top left of the connector, it's a little blue SMD part. I jumpered it et voila, it's working! ebay has a few replacement fuses: it's a 1206 32V 3A fuse for future reference, if farnell has anything interesting to buy, I'll get it from there instead.

I accidentally damage my x200 tablet screen, so i order a new one but when i install the screen the backlight wont turn on!!
I haven't had a detailed look at the motherboard yet, but a cursory examination of the top side doesn't yield an 'F7' labelled fuse. I hope it's not on the other side...i found the problem and want to share to the forum but at the same time ask for help again.
I found in the motherboard a circuit F7 that its fused and remplace it with a little thin wire and the backlight works but im wooried about what happened if i leave the wire instead of replacing the fuse? and if someone know the part number of de F7 fuse.
