X301 Modded BIOS

I !
I'm new on this (great) forum, from France (le Mans), with a nice background in Thinkpad upgrading, disassembling, reassembling, optimisation...
I use to have T61p, W500, T60, X60s, X61, X61t... Just keeping at the time a T60p for my wife light use and kids games and cartoons, and a X301 4 me.
My config is a X301 2774CTO, with all options, 8Go RAM, 256 Go SSD, both batteries, and a 3G+GPS module.
My question :
I wonder if the "Middleton" Moded bios with the Dual IDA is OK.
Has anyone here tested it yet ?
If I understood well, this moded bios gives the following extras :
- SLIC
- Dual IDA
- New multiplier in FSB.
More info here :
http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/ ... hread.html
and in the original (german) post :
http://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/131099 ... fr&ct=clnk
Where can it be found ?
Has anyone a file ?
I volunteer to test !
Regards !
Sylvain

As you can read in the first post (if you understand German that is), you will need to send the OP a PM to obtain the BIOS. If you wish, I can contact him and send you the link.

If you want an X301 BIOS with just Slic2.1 added and/or whitelists removed:
Code: Select all

I gave you the proper link where it can be found, but the forum software screwed it up...
Copy/paste the whole link in your browser.
Code: Select all

As I remember, the Dual IDA mod is only found in the BIOS from the German website.
It may be possible to request the mod be done at MDL but probably safer to get it from to original source.
Aurora seems willing to help (second post above).

Indeed I am willing to help. Like I said, send me a PM if you want the BIOS. I won't come after every single person, so if you want it do something about it.

Wow, forgive me for being late to the party, but yes, despite it being 5 years later, I am interested in the modded bios for the X301 too.
Amy possibility for getting it?
I just have to remember how to do the PM thing for the link to that German fella.
Thanks!

Bring this back from the dead... was hoping somoene could answer a few questions...
I downloaded the modified BIOS and ran the update. Should I be able to activate a Win7 system restore image with the updated SLIC tables in the BIOS? I'm still getting the warning that my Win7 isn't activated.
Is there a way to confirm the BIOS was installed properly? All the links I found for programs to verify are dead.
Is there a way to revert back to the stock BIOS? I thought I took a backup of it, but I'm not sure it was created properly.
Thanks in advance!

Run the
SlicToolkit program to check if your BIOS has Slic2.1 or not.
If yes, you can install a Lenovo W7 recovery kit.
