X300 brightness control problem

#1 Post by andy2000 » Sun Aug 18, 2013 10:04 am

When I resume my X300 (running Windows 7) from sleep, about 80% of the time, the brightness control is completely non-functional. Brightness doesn't change, and OSD doesn't appear. I can turn the Thinklight on and off, but that's it. If I momentarily close and open the lid just long enough for the screen to turn off (it's set not to sleep when closed) the brightness buttons start working fine until then next time I do a sleep/wake cycle.

Is this a known bug? Is there a solution? I think all my drivers are up to date.

It's a known bug. The Intel Driver is basically messed up.

There is a newer driver but it only comes with Windows 8. My X301 doesn't have any such problems under Win 8, so they really fixed it. Apart from upgrading your OS, nothing can be done. You can restart the driver in the device manager, but that's all.
