x220 lcd question

#1 Post by D|g|ta| » Sun Aug 25, 2013 11:42 am

Hello all,

I was curious if there was a mod that provided a larger resolution for an x220? ive seen chatter about 1600x900 but only see 1440x900 available?

If someone has any answers please let me know.

thanks.

I don't know where you're seeing 1440x900, unless you're speaking of the X200s or X201s, but it seems unlikely for the X220 because the X220 uses a 16:9 aspect ratio LCD while 1440x900 is 16:10.

I seem to recall seeing some chatter about trying the Dell XPS 12 LCD, which is a 1080 IPS LCD, in the X220/X230. I don't believe anyone's done it. I don't remember if they were lazy or the screen is incompatible with the X220/X230, which is a strong possibility. If you want more resolution, the forthcoming X240 will offer a FHD option.

Ugh.. yet another attempt at getting it right :(

I happen to own one of those modded x60's with a high res screen.. you would think that lenovo would listen and bring out something similar to that with a high res screen..

Thanks for the reply :)

Times have changed and I don't know that the number of people who want a 12" SXGA+ LCD was ever large enough to move the market. Most notebook makers are hanging on for dear life these days due to intense competition from tablets and the fact that a notebook made six years is ago is just about as good as a new one for most stuff.

If only! Mine's 1366. I do find it a struggle after 1600x900/13.1" on the last laptop, and 1920x1200/15.6" on the one before that. Looking at the newer Ts with 1600x900 at 14" which should be a pretty nice working size. Love the x220 form factor though and will miss the small size. Can't have everything....
