X201 WXGA+ screen upgrade

#1 Post by Passa » Wed Oct 30, 2013 10:04 pm

There's been tonnes of posts about this before but I've struggled to find specifics about this kind of upgrade.

I understand that it isn't as simple as swapping the LCD panels around because the connectors and stuff are different. Can the entire assembly be purchased in one go (pre-assembled) and then simply swapped with the entire top assembly on my X201?

Would this make the upgrade simple? I'm obviously anxious about damaging my laptop. At the same time, the resolution is a pain.

Thoughts? Comments from those who have done such an upgrade themselves?

If you want the entire thing preassembled, you'll probably need to buy a x200s or x201s straight up.

After that it is just as simple as taking off the entire LCD and swapping them. Just resell the x200s/x201s after you've swapped the LCD's so you can recoup some of the cost.

It really is that simple.
