X220t panel question

edit: I sourced the part from the marketplace here

Yep my friend managed to break my beloved X220T 12.5" Multitouch Digitizer IPS panel, the silly bugger.

It's FRU 04W3990 or so I'm told.

Trying to find a cheap way to replace it.

My laptop is under warranty but not for accidental damage. I called the warranty team and they suggested that I upgrade my warranty to AD coverage and claim, surprisingly. Unfortunately a call later to the websales guys they checked and their system said that I couldn't upgrade it to cover accidental damage (I told them nothing about the panel) I could only extend it.

The actual display image is perfect, what has happened is the (I think) is the touchscreen transparent out layer is cracked in the upper right corner of the display. The digitizer works perfectly up there, but the touchscreen input is erratic at best around the cracked area.

Does anyone know if it possible *just* to replace the outer touchscreen layer of this panel? That FRU 04W3990 to the best of my knowledge is the complete panel and housing - is it composed of several other parts put together that can be individually purchased?

The only hit I can find for this on Google is:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Orig-IBM-Le ... 1c3341343f

I could personally live with the crack, but I run my own business and have to display the laptop in front of clients, so it looks pretty crappy if it isn't fixed.

If any of you knowledgeable people could help me out I would really appreciate it.

On the other hand this laptop has survived some serious abuse and still looks new. Made of the same stuff as Nokia 3210's :D
