Do you think Lenovo should cover these issues in warranty?

X220Tablet: Poor building quality

#1 Post by skyscout223 » Mon Nov 25, 2013 6:36 pm

These are the problems I met within 6months of purchase. Hence I have never drop it or do anything to it except normal usage.
Lower upper case corner broken: temporally fixed using Sugru. This happens within 5 months of purchase. I had to fix it by myself because I was in the middle of work and couldn’t afford to live without the machine for even one day. I did drop it once with a well-protected bag. However the same level of dropping(about 1 meter height, with the same bag) didn’t cause a scratch on my Macbook Air.
Lower upper case cracking. I have never put more than one book on top of it.
Lower Upper case right side rubber broke off.
Rubber legs on the battery broke off. I replaced it with something else.
The screen had scratches caused by keyboard presumably. This is a design flaw!
edge of the left lower upper case rubber broken due to pressure from the twisting screen. (since it's not locked when lid is closed.)
I have contacted Lenovo for these design flaws, however they consider *all of these* issues uncovered by warranty. I am really regret that I spent over 1300 on this. Do you guys consider these problems acceptable?

I have a X220t and share 2 of the same issues with you:

- A crack has developed at the left palmrest, however it goes directly into the rubber dimple so it's not too much of an issue.
- Both my keyboard bezel rubber ridges - the one you linked here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/image/serve ... bl-1&px=-1 - has came off, I had to superglue them back. IMO the rubber ridges were just poorly designed, they should have looked into some latch mechanism for the X220t.

My Thinkpad is well past warranty so yeah...

Still what you are dealing with is a defect in design. Don't let the warranty expiration sucker you out of making a claim. Contact your consumer affairs office of your country of residence. IF it was defective in design there is no limit. If your TV explored two years beyond warranty do you think you have a claim? Yes you do as the TV should not explode. Rip Lenovo a big one and let us now the details.
