x200s vs x230

Hello,

I currently own an x200s, but it's pretty weak for software development. I'd quite like something a bit more powerful which is why I've been looking at the x230. I'm currently learning Android development and have found Eclipse with the Android SDK to be quite slow on my machine (Vanilla Java development on Eclipse is quite alright in terms of speed).

How much of a performance increase will be noticeable by upgrading to a x230? If not much, what do people suggest? I like having a long battery life, I get around 9 hours on my x200s; I don't particularly want to get anything less than 7 hours. A screen below 13" is a requirement, anything bigger, and it will unpleasant to take around and use in lectures. I don't necessarily care about it being a thinkpad (if this isn't appropriate, please say, and I'll try a different forum!)

Many thanks

9-10 is a legitimate estimate for the X230 with the nine-cell and medium settings, perhaps more if you can do lower brightness levels. There's also the slice battery if you want more and don't care about the added weight or thickness. My X220i went about six with the six-cell when the battery was new. We do recognize here at TPF, there are other notebook brands.
