new battery - defective?

#1 Post by daro346 » Sat Jan 04, 2014 11:18 am

I just purchased a new laptop battery for my x220 (Lenovo 9-Cell Hi Capacity Battery 44++ for X220 and X230 Notebooks (0a36307)). I shutdown the laptop, put the new battery in, restarted Win 7. In Power Manager, it says a battery error has occurred. The Battery Condition says "poor". Does that mean this is a defective battery? Am I missing anything about using a new battery?

thanks
dave

I would go ahead and try and charge it for a few hours, but if you continue to have a battery error, first check with another battery, make sure the battery charging circuit is fine, if it is, you should return the battery. If it is a new Lenovo battery, it should be under warranty.

Thanks... I had the laptop plugged in overnight... no difference. The original battery shows as fine. Looks like the battery is defective
