SD card stopped working after motherboard replacement X220

#1 Post by netcomrade » Thu Jan 16, 2014 11:24 am

I had recently had a system board, ssd, back panel and LCD bezel replaced by Lenovo (I have a fancy warranty).

I had to completely restore the system from an SSD, and it was NOT original IBM stuff (as I don't have a DVD and Lenovo sent DVDs).

I did download all needed drivers, but SD just doesn't show up anywhere.

I need to know if I need to call them back an come replace more stuff, or there is a wire or something that he may have forgotten to hook up (or maybe some default BIOS setting?)

Thanks much!

Quite often the card reader does not show up in Device Manager until a card is inserted.

Try that first and if it doesn't appear in DM you can download the x220 card reader driver here: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... ss82ww.exe

I've already tried that.
It doesn't react when I insert my micro-sd w/ adapter, or sdhc card from the camera.
It worked before the repairs.

Had Lenovo come out again.
They replaced the MB.
The SD card now makes the typical sound, and shows up in device drivers, but fails to mount.
Initially it shows up as d:\ under portable devices. I tried to remove it, now it shows up as "WPD FileSystem Volume Driver"
I believe it has some conflict in letter, but I tried to change my D:\ drive to something else and it didn't help.
I hate technology that doesn't work.

edit:
well, I couldn't get to edit the options to mount, but apparently the card was "read only". After that it would still not auto-mount until I manually assigned a drive letter to it. All good now. Probably a bad MB was installed the last time.
