I had posted a version of this issue in the Linux section (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=112964). I lose audio sometimes and need to either wait for it to randomly work aain or I plug in a USB audio dongle bought cheaply on eBay and this can work, the audio comes back to life. It doesn't seem to be a faulty chip as such.
The same happens with Windows 8 and I can concur with what this person (link below) is saying, in short that the computer seems to get confused sometimes when things have gone from headphone use to speakers:
http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/lenovo- ... -jack.html
Four years on from when this other person is talking about this there seems to be no solution, and I was unsuccessful in getting replies before myself, though possibly effectively hidden, because of using the Linux category to post.
There's nothing in the BIOS to alter but somehow the issue seems still to be OS-independent.
Thanks for any ideas.
