Screen is all white...is a new cable guaranteed to fix it?

I recently acquired an X200s with a cracked WXGA screen, which worked fine aside from the crack. My plan was to take out the display assembly, and replace it with the WXGA+ display assembly that I happened to have. Unfortunately, this WXGA+ screen only shows a uniform white screen. The video card is good because it can drive external monitors flawlessly, and again, it signals to the original cracked screen just fine. The white WXGA+ screen's brightness can also be adjusted correctly by the Fn+Home and Fn+End key combinations. I opened up the display assembly and confirmed that all connections were tight. My question is, would a new LCD cable fix this? If there's even a small chance that the LCD panel is defective, then I would rather buy a whole new display assembly.

Have you swapped the cables around? My understanding is that you have two - one in the (cracked) WXGA lid, and the other in the (white) WXGA+...

The cable would be my first suspect.

The WXGA and WXGA+ cables are very different and the plugs aren't interchangeable, probably because the WXGA panel is CCFL while the WXGA+ panel is LED. The WXGA cable is 44C9909, whereas the WXGA+ cable is 44C9919 or 63Y2213.

Would a defect in the panel itself cause this white-screen issue?

Not in my experience, but I've been wrong before...

I am bumping this before I go ahead buy a new LCD cable. Has anyone come across an all-white LCD that couldn't be fixed with a working cable?

And what if someone did? A cable is still a likely suspect, and a relatively cheap one (compared to new screen or new planar). You'll still end up ordering it, if only to be sure, as you should. :)

I have in fact encountered this on a X220 tablet. Instead of trying another cable I first checked some fuses and it turned out I blew F6. It was located near the display connector and the values were 32V 5A IIRC, I don't know whether this applies to X200s though. If you haven't solved your problem yet, my money's on that.
