Two questions on x200s/x201s hybridization

I've got an x200s that I absolutely love. It is a 7465CTO with WXGA+ panel, I bought it on this very forum several years ago using a different account that I am not able to restore.. :-/
I am currently in the process of upgrading it with an x201s mainboard (i7-640LM processor, FRU is 63Y2074. Got it fom eBay, waiting to be delivered). From what I have read the process should be quite straightforward, I am only left with a doubt: do I need an x201s palmrest? My x200s palmrest does not have a fingerprint reader nor a touchpad, but I read that most x201s come with both. Do you think I will be able to use my existing palmrest with the new mainboard?

I am also looking to replace the top lid cover, because i managed to break the hooks and the laptop doesn't close anymore.
I found this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111320981577 the fru is 75Y4591, so it's the x201s model. From the HMM I see that my fru should be 45N3201. I am inclined to think that there are no differences between the two, but I couldn't find any evidence of this...... I rely on your superior wisdom and knowledge.. :-D

thank you!

Welcome to the forum, again.

The X201s board will work with your X200s palmrest.

The only consideration is the wifi card. The X201s board may need a different wireless card.

The X200s and X201s WXGA+ lids are the same so the hooks will work with either lid.

Ah, thanks very much for the clarification Brad!

I assume that, as for the palmrest, the opposite is also true. If I buy a x201s palmrest I will be able to use it and gain a touchpad, is that correct?

Objection, your Honor!
An X200 palmrest (if it has FPR) can ONLY connect to an X200 motherboard.
An X201 palmrest (if it has FPR and/or touchpad) can ONLY connect to an X201 motherboard.
The X200 connector is shorter than the X201, hence they are NOT exchangeable.
Same goes for -s models.
If you do NOT connect FPR and/or touchpad, then the palmrest fits in both X200/X201 series.
Small, but important detail!

Ok, but since my existing x200s palmrest does not have FPR nor touchpad, I shuld be able to use it with the x201s mainboard.

If i get an x201s palmrest *WITH* touchpad I sould also be able to connect it to the x201s mainboard and use the touchpad!

If you have an X201s board, you can get a touchpad palmrest and add that without problem.

Personally I find the x201 touchpad an abomination and would simply use the X200 palmrest.
