Can't get 2 external monitors to work

1 monitor connected on Display Port on the dock via a DisplayPort to DVI adapter
2nd monitor is connected to VGA port the dock.
The monitors are not identical.
Control Panel only lets me use 2 out of 3 no matter what I do or where I connect the cables (dock of laptop) when I try to use "Extend my Desktop"

Would like to be able to use "Mobile" (original X220 LCD).

Any idea how to address my issue?

Afaik only two screens at a time on Intel Graphics
