Thinkpad toolbox error

Greetings; the other day I had some difficulties while rebooting my X200; I have it in the dock plugged into a monitor and with various peripherals plugged into the USB ports; it seems an external HDD was causing a issue; once I disconnected it the system booted up.
Since then though I keep getting a msg popping up telling me that the Toolbox has stopped working and it gives me a few options like check online for a solution and shut down TB, shut down TB, and debug TB; no matter what I chose and no matter how often I reboot the issue keeps coming back.
ASFIK toolbox reached end of life and I guess there is no means to re-install it, I have the rescue discs I made when I got the system, will it be possible to have them repair the issue or would they just do a overwrite of the everything?
the version number is 6.0.5849.23 If anyone knows a resource or remedy could they please point me in the right direction?
TIA
