X220 upgrade mSata SSD options

#1 Post by dolphin193031 » Thu Oct 23, 2014 4:43 am

I'll upgrade mSata ssd for my X220 . I've 2 question:
1. I've read in some where that X220 only support Sata II. Is that true ?
2. I'm newbie on mSata ssd drive. Which one is suitable with my X220. Should I buy
a Sata II or Sata III drive.

I've seen Intel 310 mSata but this one run on Sata II & hard to buy :( . Which mSata should I buy?
thanks for help me

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, mSATA slot is locked at SATA II speeds.

I'd recommend Crucial M4/Micron C400 if you can locate one, newer M500/550 tend to run on the warm side.

You can find an 80GB version of Intel 310 for under $50 on feebay.

Happy shopping.
