X201 tablet with i7...does it overheat easily?

My writing is not being picked up most of the time on my x200tablet I thought I had settled the issue by replacing the pen stylus tip but the issue has arisen again therefore I am searching for another X-series tablet. I am considering an x201tablet and when perusing fleabay I do see many i7 models and wonder, despite it being a low-voltage (?), if they are known to run hot? I also see i5 models occasionally and wonder if they might run hot as well. Has anyone had any experience handling an x201 tablet with a core i5 or i7? Were there any issues with excessive heat?

I'd say that temps will depend on what one does, as usual.

Having said that, my pick would be an i5 unit - not an i7 - if I were concerned about battery life and heat as opposed to maximum performance.

I'm curious, though: why not just pick up another X200T and call it a day?

Hi George. The stylus is a wonder for chemical and mathematical notation which is mainly what I deal with these days in school. I've just become so used to opening up One Note, scribbling my notes, and being able access them on my phone (or any other computer) when I need a quick refresher or reference. My decision for the X201T is I have never owned one before. I am certain it will fulfill my needs the same way the X200T has. Time to scope out fleabay

I run two X201 T, with the U520 i5 processor (and SSD) and the things fly -PENABLE ONLY-. I also have a x200t (touch and pen) and I will tell you this:

The pen/touch screen option is horrible on the X200T, when compared to the X201T pen only (no touch) screen! With that said, my X200T runs hotter than the U520 I5 (and the I5 is much faster)

(not sure if your X200T is the pen/touch)

@draco2527. Thanks for the reply! I have a stylus-only option. Good to hear that the i5 runs cool and faster! Anyone else have any testimony on the x201tablet?

@cfds. I remember reading a thread here on another forum about someone who had been experiencing high heat generated by the i7. If any heavy computational work is needed by me I have my personal desktop or one of the on-campus desktops to use therefore I think I will go for an i5 version. Thanks for sharing that link!
