X230 screen bezel on X220?

Hello,

I have TP X220, and I have unfortunately few times seen, that screen bezel bends out under direct sun light. Furthermore left and right upper corners are cracked and the bezel itself is slightly ratty under the display (it has some contact with keyboard when laptop is closed), so I decided to buy new bezel.

I would like to buy X230 bezel to avoid that strange "sunlight" problem. Bezels should be interchangeable between X220 and X230, so I have a question - does X230 have the same problem with bending and cracking?

PS: the overall build quality of the lid is horrible. I would like to meet one day with that designer. He is definitely gonna be the engineer like any other (except Acer).

Thank you for help :)

I haven't used an X230, but I can just verify that I had the exact same problem and was quite irritated. Be careful with the top "trim" area of the lid, as it seems to easily snap off of the rest of the lid as it did on mine. The lid is pitiful on it for sure. I wonder if the entire screen assembly can be swapped.

Old post I realise that. Just answering a question.

I have infront of me both X220 and X230. I swapped the complete displays to test a few things.

My X220 with X230 screen works fine and so do my X230 with a X220 screen.

I know that's an old topic, but it seems no one answered at the one of the questions.
Does the x230's lit has the same behavior with the one of the x220 under the sunlight, or did they fix this problem in x230 finally?

I thought the screens are identical except for model name. What is the issue exactly?

That's the issue. When you have the x220 laptop at the sunlight for a few minutes, the display's lid is bending...

What??!!! I guess I haven't really been trying to use my X220 under a hot sun.. I tried T520 but then I couldn't make out anything on the screen. Guess my X220 would be the same, it's just a TN panel I have.. Sorry don't have any answers here, I've been assuming the lids are identical between X220 and X230 but I don't really know

The front bezel is bending and bulging sometimes in response to direct sunlight, not the lid... The lid has a different issue where the top strip sometimes separates and breaks off.

Like you, I know of no documented changes between the materials used between X220 and X230 lid/bezel.

Yep, finally the x230 has the same parts as x220. I disassembled mine recently and have a look at the date of made. The laptop itself is a model of 9/2013 but the parts of screen are from the previous year.
