X200s display problem

#1 Post by RRHODY » Sat Dec 20, 2014 3:11 pm

X200s display goes black unless the lid is wide open. Guessing the ribbon cable or connector is the culprit. Any suggestions for a fix?

Or the lid switch may be the problem: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=102336

Perhaps but the display will return if the unit is gently bumped. Doesn't that seem to indicate a cable defect?

Could be as simple as the LCD cable becoming unseated from the LCD panel connector in the lid..

I've had it happen and moving the lid past 160deg would restore the image - temporarily.

Is there any easy way to get at that location to re-seat the cable?

You can find the instructions how to swap/check the cable in the HMM manual: click me!
